BOS functions very much like an art gallery.
Just as an unknown artist appreciates the chance to be displayed alongside recognised names, so too does a BOS author. We place your book in a reputable bookstore, among outstanding authors from around the world, giving you a genuine opportunity to be discovered.
But we go further.
Your book is actively promoted under our BOS Future Words banner or the BOS Encore Series, drawing attention and inviting readers to pause, engage, and explore. Discovery begins with attention. And attention creates opportunity.
In addition to in-store promotion, BOS provides out-of-store promotion through Indie Books NZ. Your book’s cover and blurb are featured in their monthly catalogue, supported by a targeted social media campaign reaching readers, booksellers, schools, and libraries across New Zealand.
Importantly, BOS works alongside the entire publishing ecosystem. We are not a competitor. We are a marketing partner.
We Create the Moment That Matters
A reader pauses.
They read your bio.
They absorb your story.
They connect with your voice.
That moment—what we call dwell time—is where discovery lives.
Sometimes they buy.
When they don’t, they leave with something just as powerful: your name in their mind, and your story in the conversation.
A Smarter Use of Your Marketing Budget
Many authors invest heavily in social media campaigns and other unreliable schemes, with uncertain results.
Clicks without connection. Impressions without impact.
BOS offers a disciplined alternative.
We help you redirect a portion of your marketing budget into something tangible:
bookstore placement and real reader discovery in a crowded marketplace.
What Happens When You Register with BOS.
Phase One — Onboarding
Authors, booksellers, industry participants, and service providers can register via the website.
It is free.
We call this our onboarding phase.
Categories include:
Phase Two — Trading
This is where we match your book with a BOS Book Gallery.
Once both parties are satisfied and terms are agreed:
No payment is required until the match is confirmed.
We will be offering a BNPL option with a 4-payment spread.
Flexible Print Option.
Authors may choose to print with their own provider.
10-book placement reduces to $1,050
20-book placement reduces to $1,360
If 20 books are printed but only 10 are placed in-store (with 10 retained by the author), the investment is $1,630, subject to exclusivity during the promotion period.
This ensures BOS supports—not competes with—self-publishing providers.
BOS Full Range of Services.
All BOS authors will have the opportunity to showcase their work internationally as the network expands.
The BOS Benefits
BOS supports your success. You remain in control.
As Your Book Reaches the Shelf
Why This Matters
Discovery does not happen in theory. It happens in places.
A reader browsing.
A book picked up.
A recommendation made.
Books on Shelves exists to create those moments—for authors ready to be seen.
The BOS Fee
Like an art gallery, BOS earns a fee for creating the opportunity.
Your success beyond that is entirely up to you.
Books on Shelves
Turning manuscripts into marketplace moments.
Take the Next Step
Authors are encouraged to explore the BOS Author Review Scheme and register.
For many, this is the first step into a wider network—one that may extend internationally through BOS Global pathways.
It begins simply.
One author. One story. Recognised by another.
